Residents of Katente Village, Nakisunga Sub-county in Mukono District, have been left in shock after the area National Resistance Movement (NRM) elected councillor, Henry Kittata Naggwano died a few hours after being sworn.
On Thursday, a visibly weak Kittata was brought in a black Toyota Kluger, from his hospital bed to swear alongside other newly elected councillors at Nakisunga Playground.
According to reports, Kittata’s health, who took oath while seated inside the car, deteriorated shortly after the ceremony, prompting colleagues to rush him for medical attention but was later pronounced dead at Herona Hospital.
The Mukono District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Mr. Henry Ddamba, while addressing residents after the news of Kittata’s death, revealed that discussions had earlier been held about allowing him to take oath from another location or on a different day, but Hon. Kittata insisted on participating in the ceremony despite his illness.
