Security operatives have raided former Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among’s country home in Aputiput Village, Aereere Parish, Kamutur Sub-county in Bukedea District, as investigations into alleged corruption, accountability, illicit enrichment and money laundering widens.
According to sources, the operation which began at around 10am, seeks to locate documents, electronic devices, financial records and other materials considered relevant to the ongoing probe.
The Friday operation in her home area, follows a week of operations at three of her homes in the Kampala metropolitan area and her office at Parliament.
On Wednesday, operatives returned to outgoing Speaker of Parliament Anita Among’s, Nakasero residence and seized additional luxury cars.
The return to the opulent home, following a Saturday raid that marked the beginning of the raids, saw security operatives hauling away at least four more vehicles which included a Sports Utility vehicle registration number UBH 138W and a Toyota Land Cruiser with registration plate UA 630 BE.
Officers also impounded a Mercedes-Benz with personalised number plate AAA 1 and a Lexus Registration number UBP 704 Y, bringing to six the total number of vehicles seized so far.
This followed a Monday seizure of her a Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Range Rover from her Kigo residence.
On Tuesday, security operatives cordoned off the 5th floor of Parliament’s East Wing, as search operations were carried out in the office of former Speaker Anita Among.
