The Intergovernmental Authority on Development’s (IGAD),Executive Secretary, H.E. Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, has arrived in Uganda ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect H.E. Yoweri Museveni, set to take place in Kampala tomorrow.
Dr. Workneh joins Heads of State and Government and regional leaders in marking this important occasion, which reflects the strong ties among IGAD Member States and the mutual respect that underpins their cooperation.
Dr. Workneh was received at Entebbe International Airport (EBB) via the VVIP terminal by the IGAD head of mission in Uganda Joselyn Bigirwa and Minister of Justice Norbert Mao on Monday afternoon.

Other dignitaries that have arrived in the country ahead of tomorrow’s ceremony include Zimbabwe Vice President H.E. Gen. (Rtd) Dr. Constantino Guveya Dominic Nyikadzino Chiwenga, H.E. Brahim Ghali, President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, H.E. Taye Atske Selassie, President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and H.E. Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Others include a delegation of the United States of America, led by Mr. Nicholas Checker, Senior Bureau Official for African Affairs, Somalia President H.E. Hassan Mohamud and South Sudans Salva Kiir Mayardit.
President Yoweri Museveni’s swearing in ceremony will take place tomorrow at the Kololo ceremonial grounds.
