The Makindye Chief Magistrates Court has remanded three individuals on charges of intermeddling with the estate of a deceased person, eviction of a lawful or bona fide occupant, destroying growing plants, forcible entry, malicious damage to property, theft, and trespassing on burial grounds.
The suspects include Male Umar, Nsereko Hood Mukasa Ssembatya and Namboze Janat Nsubuga.
Prosecution alleges that between 2024 and 2025, the accused together with others still at large, violently and unlawfully entered land approximately 4 acres located at Ndejje – Lubugumu in Makindye- Ssabagabo Municipality, Wakiso District, belonging to the estate of the late Ibrahim Katerega.
“They reportedly evicted lawful bona fide occupants without a court order, destroyed plantations, demolished houses with property still inside, and stole belongings with the help of armed goons allegedly deployed with machetes and sticks” prosecution told court.
The accused are also said to have fenced off the land, including burial grounds, thereby denying the rightful beneficiaries access to the estate of the late Ibrahim Katerega.
Prosecution informed court that investigations further indicate that, without letters of administration, they participated in the sale of three acres of the deceased’s estate.
The trio have been remanded until 29th April, when the case will come up for further mention.
