The Makindye Chief Magistrates Court has committed the main suspect in the murder of four toddlers at Ggaba Early Childhood Development centre, to the High Court for hearing of his case.
On Wednesday, prosecution informed court that despite his recent family claims that he has a history of mental illness, a medical report found him to be of sound mind.
Prosecution further informed court, that a search of the suspects residence following the murders unearthed two American passports, two mobile phones, two laptops, a US driving permit, a medical sanity report, and a certificate of good conduct.
On Tuesday, Okello was arraigned before the Makindye before Grade One Magistrate Idah Nanjala and charged with four counts of murder, contrary to section 171 and 172 of the penal code act, cap 128.
Prosecution told court that Okello on the second day of April this year at Ggaba Early Childhood Development centre, Ggaba trading zone, Ggaba parish, Makindye Division Kampala district, with malice aforethought unlawfully caused deaths of Eteku Gideon, Keisha Agenoroth, Sseruynage Ignatius, and Odeke Rayan.
Okello wasn’t allowed to take plea to the charges before the lower court and will only do so when he is arraigned before a High Court.
Okello has been remanded to Luzira Prison until when he will be scheduled to appear before a High Court to answer to the murder charges.
