At least three people have been confirmed dead, while several others remain missing after a boat capsized on Lake Victoria near Bugoto landing site in Bukabooli Sub County in Mayuge district.

The yet to be identified deceased include one adult woman and two children while four people were rescued alive.
According to Busoga East Police spokesperson Michael Kasadha, the incident occurred on Wednesday, when the boat carrying an unspecified number of passengers capsized under unclear circumstances.
Search and rescue efforts are currently underway to find more passengers who were travelling on the boat at the time of the accident.
