Veteran coach Mike Mutebi who was reported missing by his family members, has been found alive and is currently receiving medication at a hospital.
According to a statement released by police on Monday evening, Mutebi was found in the areas of Kisubi along Entebbe road and taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
“Coach Mike Mutebi has been found in Kisubi and is currently receiving medical attention at a hospital, where health personnel are assessing his condition. We thank all those who came forward with information regarding his whereabouts” the Police statement read.
The news of Mutebi’s discovery ended hours of anxiety in the country’s football fraternity after he was earlier reported missing.
On Monday, the news of the celebrated coach going missing was awash with the sports fraternity and Ugandans in general worried about his well being.
Coach Mutebi is widely regarded as one of the most influential football coaches in Uganda’s modern era.
Known for his emphasis on possession-based football and youth development, Mutebi played a pivotal role in shaping many of the country’s top football talents.
His legacy is most deeply rooted at KCCA FC where he transformed the club into a continental powerhouse during his tenure between 2016 and 2021, he transformed the Lugogo-based side into a continental powerhouse.
Under his guidance, KCCA achieved a historic haul, including three UPL titles, two Uganda Cups, four Super Cups and a CECAFA Club Championship.
