The outgoing Mawokota South Member of Parliament Hon Yusuf Nsibambi, has quit the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and crossed over to the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Nsibambi was on Wednesday received by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Anita Among, and the party’s Secretary General, Richard Todwong at the secretariat in Kyambogo.
Nsibambi’s switch to the ruling NRM, comes weeks after he lost his seat to NRM’s Suzan Nakawuki in the just concluded general elections and thereafter attended a meeting with President Yoweri Museveni, NRM,s National Chairperson.
Speaker Among while welcoming Nsibambi, appreciated him for having recognised the importance of the NRM party’s cause.
“We hereby extend an official welcome to the Honourable Yusuf Nsibambi into the @NRMOnline family. We appreciate your recognition of the importance of our cause and your decision to join the movement dedicated to safeguarding and strengthening our nation’s achievements” she posted on her X.
Nsibambi was part of a group of opposition legislators who lost in the recently concluded 2026 general elections and later met President Museveni to discuss their political future and other national issues.
The group of 17 includes the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) parliamentary whip and Mawokota South MP Yusuf Nsibambi, Kyamuswa County’s Moses Kabusu, who ran on the People’s Front for Freedom ticket, and former Kawempe North MP Latif Ssebaggala, who contested on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket, among others.
