The Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Kawala Rachael, has revealed that security agencies have arrested one suspect and recovered a vehicle in the double murder and robbery that occurred at Dave Hotel and Suites in Mbubi Zone, Lungujja Parish on Saturday.
According to Kawala, the suspect was arrested on Tuesday after the police received credible intelligence regarding the whereabouts of the motor vehicle registration number UBH 633M, which had gone missing after the murder of Asasira Shivani, the hotel manager and Musinguzi Lawrence a security guard at the hotel.
“On 09/02/2026, credible intelligence was received regarding the whereabouts of the motor vehicle registration number UBH 633M, which had gone missing after the incident” she said.
Kawala added, “Acting on this information, police swung into action and apprehended two suspects yesterday 10 Feb 2026 and also recovered the above motor vehicle” she said.
Kawla noted that the suspect has been identified as Ssempala Allan reasserting that the force will provide more details as investigations continue.
According to police, preliminary findings on Saturday 7th February at about 10:00 a.m., the hotel owner received a phone call from the manager, Asasira Shivani, who reported that she was unable to locate the security guard and that his phones were switched off.
At around 11:30 a.m., the owner attempted to call the manager back, but her phone was also not being answered.
Concerned, the owner later went to the hotel at about 3:00 p.m., where he discovered both the manager and the security guard dead in separate rooms.
According to police findings, both victims sustained stab wounds and a white Toyota Harrier (registration UBH 633M) belonging to the hotel which had been taken was recovered on Tuesday along with the key suspect.
