The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Masaka Armoured Division Commander Major General Deus Sande, has passed on due to health complications in the wee hours of Wednesday in Mpigi district.
According to the UPDF acting spokesperson, Col. Chris Magezi, Maj Gen Sande died at around 3:45am on his way to Kampala to attend the funeral service of his former colleague Major General Francis Takirwa (RIP) at All Saints Cathedral in Nakasero.
“Major General Deus Sande developed breathing complications along the way and efforts to resuscitate him at a hospital facility in Mpigi failed” Col Magezi said.
Col Magezi noted that the exact cause of death will be ascertained later.
Major General Takirwa died on Saturday, February 7, 2026 due to stroke related complications.
