President Museveni has ordered for the sacking of Jenifer Bamuturaki as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Uganda Airlines.
According to multiple sources at the airline, the axe follows a State House meeting held in September 2025 that reviewed mounting governance failures, disputed aircraft procurement decisions and growing financial losses at the national carrier.
The meeting attended by the Uganda Airlines Board and senior management also reviewed persistent audit warnings, revenue leakages and emerging law-enforcement interest in the airline’s finances.
In an official email to all Uganda Airlines Staff on Monday afternoon seen by 360newsug.com, Bamuturaki urged her colleagues to apply for her position which is set to be advertised soon.
“The Board will advertise the position of Chief Executive Officer shortly, and you are all encouraged to apply if you meet the required qualifications.
The job description and application form will be published on the website” wrote.
In January this year, the State House Anti-Corruption Unit in collaboration with the Police Criminal Investigations Directorate launched investigations into alleged abuse of office, embezzlement of funds and false accounting against officials of Uganda Airlines.
The CID, in a letter dated January 7th signed by Lumala Fed on behalf of the Deputy Director of CID in charge of Economics Fraud and Anti-Corruption, addressed to Chief Executive Officer of Uganda Airlines requested extensive financial, procurement and operational documents to aid ongoing investigations into the national carrier’s financial transactions.
Since mid-last year, the National Airline has been in the spotlight over a number of issues including several corruption allegations, lack of spare parts, flight disruptions and un notified flight cancellations among other woes.
According to reports presented to parliament, the airline recorded a net loss of about Shs 324.9 billion in the 2022/ 2023 financial year.
In 2023/2024, losses fell but remained substantial at about Shs 237.8 billion.
