Simon Lwanyanga Makumbi, a resident of kisugu Namuwongo, a Kampala Suburb has apologised to Pastor Joseph Ssekisaka, the lead pastor at Eden Miracle Ministries found in katale nalumunye, Wakiso district over defaming him in a land grabbing saga.
Makumbi who made the apology at Natete Regional Police Headquarters this week following his arrest by security personnel over defaming the widely known pastor.
Makumbi was arrested following his land grabbing and his alleged attempted murder by Pastor Ssekisaka while appearing on journalist Dean Lubowa Saava – TV 10’s Gano Mazima Program.
“To all Ugandans out there, I apologise to Pastor Ssekisaka Joseph, I was on TV10 with Dean Saava Lubowa and I said some lies about Pastor Ssekisaka, that he is a land grabber, that he wanted to kill me, all of which wasn’t true” he said.
He added, “I am before the cameras today to apologise to Pastor Ssekisaka and his followers, I will never repeat it again”.
In the interview seen by this publication, Makumbi denies selling his embattled family land to Pastor Ssekisaka whom he alleged to have excavated the family graveyards and thrown their relatives remains into a lake.
“When I just talk about it, I feel terrible, I have stress, how will I tell my children where their grandparents are, it hurts me, they can even denounce me being a Ugandan” Makumbi said in the interview.
However family members who appeared in the same interview deny knowledge of Makumbi being their family member and assert that he was only brought into the family as a casual worker of their late father.
“A person doesn’t get disabled on top of the body only, at times they might have some mental problems which may require us to take him to hospital for checking because how do you a person who was brought as a worker start calling the family children workers” one of the family members said.
By the time of this publication, efforts to get comment from Pastor Joseph Ssekisaka on the way forward were futile.
