A dark cloud hovers over Buganda Kingdom as it mourns the death of Princess Diana Balizzamuggale Teyeggala, Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II’s younger sister.
Princess Balizzamuggale’s passing was announced by Buganda Premier, Charles Peter Mayiga through his X account on Saturday morning.
Premier Mayiga revealed that Princess Balizzamuggale has been battling illness for some time and has been receiving medical treatment in various hospitals both within Uganda and abroad.
Princess Diana Balizzamuggale who has passed away aged 59 was a daughter of the late Kabaka Edward Muteesa II and a younger sister to Kabaka Mutebi.
Premier Mayiga noted that the Kingdom will announce other funeral arrangements.
Born in October 1966 while her father, Ssekabaka Muteesa II, was in exile, Princess Diana never met him before his death.
Her mother was Princess Catherine Karungu of Ankole, according to Buganda royal records.
