In a surprising twist of events, the Democratic Front’s Abed Bwanika, has endorsed the National Unity Platform (NUP) Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu aka Bobi Wine for President in next year’s polls.
Bwanika has since his defection from the Kavule based NUP outfit alongside his Nyendo- Mukungwe, cum Democratic Front President Mathias Mpuuga been at logger heads with the party leadership.
The kimanya- Kabonera county MP who is seeking re-election to parliament surprised people who had gathered for his rally at Kyanjale ward on Monday when he fully supported Bobi Wine during his address.
“When Mr Kyagulanyi was campaigning here, I didn’t hear him abuse me, there is no way I can stand and start abusing him, why would I abuse him? Those who want to vote him, should vote him” he said.
Bwanika noted that his decision came after Bobi Wine restrained himself from attacking the Democratic Front during his Maska rally recently.
“When he came here, he didn’t attack us, I can’t attack a person who hasn’t attacked me, ….. Am a person of change, thus any person who seeks change, when we go to war, we are supposed to go together as forces of change” he said.
Bwanika further noted that since the DF where he currently serves as party treasurer hadn’t fronted a Presidential candidate due to a number of issues including the party still being new and seeking a change of electoral laws, DF supporters could vote for Bobi Wine.
“Today. the district returning officers are ordered not to announce the results until Byabakama announces them, by the time they leave kyanjale to Masaka they have changed, by the time they reach Kampala, they have multiplied” he said.
Bwanika further urged residents to desist from political differences and work together for the opposition to win the greater Masaka region in next year’s polls.
