As revelers continue flocking the Kalagala Falls in Jinja City for the 10 year anniversary of the Nyege Nyege Festival, sad news coming in indicates that Andrew Alar, a Police Constable attached to the Counter Terrorism unit has drowned at the Falls.
According to reports, Alar who had been deployed at Kalagala Falls alongside other colleagues in the ongoing Festival died while trying to rescue a colleague who had fallen into the water during a bath.
“PPC Komakech, another officer, slipped from a stone into the river, while attempting to rescue him, PPC Alar Andrew tragically drowned and was swept away by the strong” an eyewitness said.
Recently, a Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) engineer, Gershom Rwakasanga drowned at Busowoko Falls after slipping from a stone, his body was later recovered following an extensive search.
By the time of this publication, Marine Police was still searching for Alar’s body.
