Police has arrested it’s blue eyed boy, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Clive Nsiima who was captured on CCTV footage assaulting a female supermarket attendant at the Shell fuel station in Kyanja, Kampala after she requested him to clear his bill of UGX 30,000.
The arrest of Nsiima, who is the Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) Deputy Zonal Commander was confirmed by the police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke in a brief post on his X account.
“I hereby confirm he has been arrested” Kituuma posted in response to Journalist Adam Kungu’s post of a video showing the woman beating officer assaulting the young girl.
The video, which has since gone viral, shows Nsiima, dressed in civilian clothes, berating a female cashier before striking her twice across the face.
“I am parking; have you ever driven such a car?” he is heard saying before adding, “She’s there disturbing me over UGX 30,000. Do you think I can run away with UGX 100,000? I can slap you even with these cameras here and tomorrow we go to court.”
Nsiima, who is attached to the Counter Terrorism Directorate under the Oil and Gas Protection Unit, was detained following a joint operation by officers from Kyanja Police Post and the Professional Standards Unit (PSU).
Nsiima’s assault of the young lady has further been criticized by the Director of Criminal Investigations, AIGP Tom Magambo who described the actions as an isolated incident and promised the public a thorough investigation into the matter through his x account.
“Comrade Kungu. My colleagues and I, condemn such isolated behaviour. Be assured that an internal investigation is ongoing to guide in further action. The PRO @mkituuma will provide more updates on the matter” Magambo posted.
Nsiima is expected to face charges of assault and threatening violence under Sections 235 and 236 of the Penal Code Act, which carry penalties of up to five years in prison.
The supermarket attendant whose identity remains concealed has since filed a formal complaint and is receiving counseling and medical assistance.
