The Forum for Democratic Change’s (FDC) Nandala Mafabi James Nathan has become the fourth candidate to be duly nominated to contest for the Presidency in the 2026 Polls.
Mafabi arrived at the Electoral Commission grounds in Lweza for his nomination escorted by relatives and the party’s top political figures.
While addressing media after his nomination, Mafabi asked for all political parties support and promised to mend broken political relations.
“I ask all parties to support me, I ask NRM to support me and I can tell you nobody will be with hunted, we say thank you. We are going to build bridges where they are not, repair where there are no bridges” he said.
Mafabi noted that the party decided to hold it’s maiden rally at Kampala road play grounds, a slum area in Butabika, Nakawa Division.
“We are coming there to show you, that this problem where you are is what we are coming to solve it’s not that we can’t go to a better place like Nakivubo, but we are coming to that rally to show you that we are part of that problem and it’s time to solve it” he said.
Mafabi further criticized the National Resistance Movement for allegedly protecting personal gains instead of the country as a whole.
“You say you want to protect our gains, you want to protect gains of poverty, gains of people suffering or what, the gains should not be for a few, they should be for the entire country and nobody made an application to God to be born in Uganda” he said.
He added, “I am standing to fix the economy. When President Museveni came to power, he said his goal was to fix security that has been achieved. Now, I am here to fix poverty”.
Other aspirants expected to be nominated on the final day of presidential nominations include NUP’s Robert Kyagulanyi and ANT’s Gen Mugisha Muntu among others.
Yesterday, the commission nominated NRM’s President Yoweri Museveni, National Peasants Party Robert Kasibante and two time candidate on the Conservative Party ticket Elton Joseph Mabirizi.
