American Pan Africanist Mr Ayo Kimathi has said there is a need for youth and Africans at large both home and abroad to work together in order for them to rise up from the postcolonial era and gain their sovereignty.
“We all should be doing this, even if we’re not on the African continent, I live in America. We have the three kings, Baba Goita in Mali (President Assimi Goita), Baba Traore (President Ibrahim Traore) in Burkina Faso and we have Baba Tchiani (President Abdourahamane Tchiani) in Niger. Not only have they taken their own countries into their own hands, but they’ve come together and shown how real African leadership is supposed to work” he said.
Mr Kimathi made the remarks while addressing journalists upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport on Friday ahead of the 8th Pan –African Pyramid (PAP) Global Awards in Kampala on Saturday.
Mr Kimathi said by working together, the three Presidents have not only united to become one, but they’ve partnered with Russia to get their sovereignty.
The PAP speaker Mr Andrew Irumba said Pan Africanists are set to make a declaration urging all African countries to unite and have one visa for Africa.
“The voice is that we want one United States of Africa, we want one passport for Africans, a border-free Africa. There shouldn’t be borders left by colonialists in Africa, no African should pay for a visa to visit one part of Africa, from one country of Africa to another country of Africa” he said.
Mr Irumba said the Kampala declaration is both a covenant and a clarion call to resist all forces of imperialism, neocolonialism, and external domination.
