The chairperson of the communications and signage CHAN/AFCON local organization sub-committee Dr Dennis Mugimba has revealed that the body has purchased 28,000 tickets to be given out for free to fans to watch the third place match play off for free tomorrow at Mandela National Stadium.
Dr Mugimba said the decision to buy tickets for the Sudan vs Senegal match was reached by the committee in recognition of the exemplary participation by football fans who have been participating in the CHAN-2024 tournament which Uganda cohosted alongside Kenya and Tanzania under PAMOJA.
“With the above arrangement, the LOC has purchased all tickets available for sale for tomorrow’s 3rd/4th Place playoff Match Day. As a result, there will not be any tickets available for sale to the public. These tickets become available starting this afternoon” he said.
The final of the CHAN 2024 will be played between Madagascar vs Morocco on Saturday, 30th August 2025 at Moi International Stadium, Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi.
“Upon accessing the portal to get yourself a ticket, fill in all the necessary details such as your names, phone contact, and email as applicable, when it comes to payment, DO NOT make any payment. Instead, use the Promo Code option. Type in the Promo Code CHAN3RD (in capital letters), then proceed to complete the transaction” he added.
Dr Mugimba noted that no individual is authorized by CAF to distribute Match Day tickets bought by the LOC, adding that each person can only obtain a maximum of three tickets, with the system blocking multiple purchases.
“To enter Namboole Stadium to watch the Match, you must present a genuine and un-duplicated ticket labelled NOT FOR SALE. Persons who are not holders of a genuine ticket that is not a duplicate SHALL NOT be allowed to go through the Gates at Namboole”.
Mugimba noted that all tickets will retain all the security features of an authentic Match Day ticket for CHAN-2024 from CAF and can only be accessed through CAF’s official website for purchase of tickets for CHAN-2024 as has been the case.
However some critics have come out to say the decision comes after a very poor turn up of fans for the semi-final match between Morocco Vs. Senegal on Tuesday.
