The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has endorsed Nathan Nandala Mafabi for the 2026 presidential race after Amuriat Patrick Oboi steps down from the race.
The party’s National Executive Committee has today convened at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi, to discuss the party’s budget ahead of the upcoming general elections and also officially declare Nandala as the party’s ticket holder in next year’s presidential race.
According to insiders in the party, the decision was mutually reached on Tuesday after the party elders urged party president Patrick Oboi Amuriat to step aside in favour of Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi to prevent further internal division.
FDC members expressed concerns that Amuriat has failed to make a meaningful impact on the party, particularly in mobilizing new members and raising funds to support party activities after the exit of Dr Kizza Besigye.
Recently, internal wrangles within the FDC prompted the former presidential candidate to leave with a small group of supporters and form the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) party.
