The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Entebbe electoral commission registrar Mr Paul Wasike has declared Mr Stephen Shayka Gashaija as the winner of the party’s Member of Parliament ticket in the 2026 national polls.
“Apart from one session that was disqualified of Mayanzi since they started voting before midday, I got a call from the polling supervisor informing me that they had started voting by 9am, when we reached there at around 10am we found the report true, I had nothing to do but disqualify the polling station since it contravened our party voting regulations” he said.
Mr Stephen Shayka Gashaija got 4,175 to win the party ticket followed by Ms Scholastica Najjemba with 467 and Ms Jovia Namara in third place with 192 votes out of 21,507 registered voters in the municipalities NRM yellow book.

While talking to media after his announcement Shayka pledged to work for the good all residents and ensure further development.
“The people of Entebbe are looking for someone who can work diligently with His Excellency the President on matters of implementing the manifesto of the NRM and our manifesto as team Shayka, which is not far from the manifesto of His Excellency. What we are saying is that as Team Shayka and the NRM, we are going to work for everybody” he said.
In the polls for the Wakiso Woman MP seat, former Entebbe RDC Rose Kirabira has won with 2,808, while Namakula Radhtiah has got 1,040 and Beth kayesu with 362 votes.

The elections which were peaceful were marred by low voter turn up, heavy combined security deployment of the SFC, UPDF and Uganda Police Force at all polling stations.
The Entebbe deputy Resident District Commissioner Mr Hakim Kirigwa has revealed that the NRM Parliamentary primaries have gone on well in the 24 voting villages without any cases of violence being reported in both Divisions of the Municipality throughout the polls.
Mr Kirigwa said other than in Kigungu where candidates were complaining that the people who were voting, were not within the register, the rest of the voting on other areas proceeded peacefully.

“We went there with the team. We instructed that the voting should be one man, one vote and the register was produced and we left when everything was in order, we have not registered any incident, so we have had very peaceful elections” he said.
