A combined team of security forces on Tuesday spent the better half of the morning battling Entebbe taxi touts under ESCADA who had turned rowdy and attacked Fly Express Taxi operators and passengers.
According to sources the taxi operators under ESCADA who operate from the new Kitooro Taxi Park were allegedly led by their chairman Hood Walakira aka Chief Abiola to attack the Entebbe residents preferred Fly Express Taxi operators, operating at Bus Park in division A.
The morning fight left several taxi Operators and drivers injured after the kitooro taxi park group complained that the clean and organised Fly Express Operators had ‘Stolen Their’ customers.
Several taxis belonging to the Fly Express Operators were stoned at Airport road opposite Entebbe Junior School as they were dropping passengers from Kampala.
The Abiola led ESCADA group which allegedly hired goons from Kitooro and Kampala to help in the attack is said to have targeted President Museveni’s impending visit on Wednesday to the Division B to check on PDM projects.
Several of the attackers were arrested in the chaos and are currently being held at Entebbe CPS.
