As the country braces for the 2026 general elections, newly registered People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) and the Gen Mugisha Muntu led Alliance for National Transformation (ANT), have signed a cooperation agreement to form a united front ahead of the polls.
During the signing on Wednesday at Hotel Africana, the acting PFF spokesperson Ibrahim Ssemujju, said the cooperation agreement is set to enhance cooperation between the two parties which share many common values and goals for change in the country.
The PFF president Erias Lukwago noted the need for opposition parties to leave their own comfort and work together to achieve change, “It would be foolish for any political entity to go into the upcoming elections alone and expect to uproot Mr Museveni and his henchmen”.
ANT President Gen. Mugisha Muntu said the opposition’s unity remains key if they are to mount a serious challenge against President Museveni.
“We thank God for enabling us to reach this day today, this cooperation has been there for a long time and it shows that both sides have responsible leaders at the top with a high level of commitment and discipline needed for this” he said.
Mr Muntu noted that they were in talks with the National Unity Platform and are open to allowing other opposition parties or groups to join them gradually towards the electoral process.
