The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) Management has dismissed a recent press release allegedly announcing the closure of Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary allegedly from the authority it’s self as fake news with the ranch remaining open to operations.
In a statement released on Thursday, Mr Bashir Hangi, the manager Communications at UWA described the press release dated June 23rd that has been circulating on social media as misleading and didn’t originate from UWA.
“We urge the public, media, tour operators and all stakeholders to disregard the document in circulation… Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary remains open to the public and tourism activities at the sanctuary are going on as normal” the statement reads.
Hangi noted that the Rhino population remains safe at the sanctuary and continues to play a critical role in Uganda’s conservation and tourism agenda.
