There was a heavy mixed deployment of military, Police and plain clothed security personnel on Wednesday at the National Unity Platform (NUP) headquarters in Kavule, Makerere as the party welcomed several politicians and dozens of defectors from different political parties.
However the deployment which has more or less become a formal sight at the leading opposition party offices whenever they have meetings didn’t stop the new coverts from making the cross over to the Bobi Wine led NUP.
The NUP Joiners include Nakaseke District MP Hon Paul Lutamaguzi Semakula, Patrick Nsanja, Fortunate Nantongo, Joan Namutaawe, and seasoned journalist cum politician Zambali Mukasa, who were welcomed by the Party President Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine who even handed them NUP membership cards.

Mr Kyagulanyi condemned the deployment of security personnel to try and stop the unveiling of the new party members.
“We are holding a party event at the National Unity Platform Headquarters, and this is how much they have deployed all around, as though we’re in a war zone. Their fear is greater than their wickedness! #FreeUganda” Bobi Wine posted on his X account on Wednesday.
