NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi wine’s chief Body guard Edward Ssebufu aka Eddie Mutwe has been abducted Mukono district by armed men and placed in the famous drones before being whisked away to an unidentified location.
According to Bobi Wine who took to his X account to announce Eddie Mutwe’s abduction from Bukeree –Kiwango cell allegedly by members of the Special Forces Command (SFC), President Yoweri Museveni’s elite gurad unit.
“Comrade @eddie_mutwe has just been violently abducted from Kiwango village in Mukono district by armed men in SFC uniform traveling in a Toyota van (‘drone’),” Bobi Wine posted.
NUP spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi, through his X account said Eddie Mutwe’s abduction on Sunday evening by the SFC is a sign of the continued break down of the rule of law in the country by security agencies.
“A short while ago, Eddie Mutwe was abducted from Mukono by armed men and taken in a drone.
The continuous breakdown of the rule of law in Uganda should concern all right thinking people” he posted.
Eddie Mutwe’s alleged abduction has since caused an uproar among Ugandans on X, with many taking to social media platforms to demand accountability and call on the government to respect the rights and freedoms of opposition members.
Enforced disappearances and violent arrest of opposition supporters have been happening before, during and after the 2021 presidential elections. Many of them resurfaced during their arraignment in the General Court martial, while others were abandoned on the roads with torture marks.
By time of this publication, security organs in the country had not yet come out on the reasons as to why Eddie Mutwe had been abducted.
