Minister of Works and Transport Gen Katumba Wamala has revealed that the new Uganda Airlines direct flight from Entebbe International Airport to Gatwick, London is set to increase the airlines passenger and cargo traffic as the national carrier continues it’s expansion to wider markets.

“We are therefore happy that Uganda Airlines is coming in to moderate the market as it has done on other routes. London, the 17th destination into which our national carrier will fly, signifies the steady progress of our transport network system” katumba said.

While launching the route on Thursday in Kampala, Mr Katumba said the airline starting May 18, 2025 will ply the United Kingdom route with 4 weekly flights cutting travel time from 16 hours to just 9, offering a significant boost to trade, tourism, education, and economic connections between Uganda and the United Kingdom.

“This route will connect Entebbe International Airport to London Gatwick, and it will be Uganda Airlines’ 3rd destination outside the African continent after Dubai and Mumbai” he said.

The CEO Uganda Airlines, Ms. Bamuturaki Jenifer said the London route follows meticulous planning and preparations to secure.

“It gives me great pleasure that we celebrate our 5th year with this amazing milestone. I’m elated and excited to announce the dates for the long awaited direct flights to London by Uganda Airlines. This route marks the end of our establishment phase, and sets us on a course for long term growth and expansion” she said.
