Singer King Saha, real name Mansoor Ssemanda, on Friday cemented his name as one of the best artists that has ever graced the country’s music scene, as fans turned up in massive numbers to attend his highly anticipated sold out ‘Tondeka Ekololo Festival’ on Friday.
King Saha turned Kololo Airstrip Independence Grounds, into a sea of fans as thousands of loyal fans started arriving at the venue by midday, making long ques around the airstrip, setting a remarkable new record in Uganda’s entertainment industry.
Performances from a number of upcoming artistes kicked off the concert, before renowned artistes like Winnie wa Mummy, Vian Music, Laty Wizy Young Mulo, Kid Dee, Spice Diana, Kabaaya, Mudra, Aziz Azion, Fefe Buusi, Daxx Vibes, Comedians Maulana and Reign, and Fik Fameika among others graced the stage.
King Saha, stepped on stage at around 9:30 pm, kicking off his show with a rendition of late legendary South African Reggae artist Luck Dube’s songs, before dropping a number of his hit songs, delivering a memorable performance throughout the night, showcasing vocal abilities and soulful sound in an unforgettable live performance.
However, the excitement was briefly overshadowed by incidents involving some fans fainting after reportedly struggling to breathe due to the overwhelming crowds and congestion at the venue.
Several fans, complained that the venue was too small to accommodate the huge turnout, urging King Saha to consider Namboole Stadium, a much bigger venue for his next concert.
The massive crowd visibly surpassed the turnout recorded at Ray G’s concert at the same venue a week ago.
However, his Kololo concert which even had fans fill up the stands for the first time at Kololo, cemented him as a leading force in Ugandan music, signalling him as the new King of Ugandan music.
