The Police in Mubende district has two in custody over allegedly killing four dogs, and attempting to supply their carcasses to a roadside market in Mubende District for human consumption.
The suspects who have been identified as James Twinamatsiko and Reponse Habimana, were reportedly arrested after declining to stop the motorcycle they were moving in for an inspection by a motorised patrol in the wee hours of Saturday.
Reports indicate that on June 13, 2026, at around 12:30 a.m., No. 58500 Cpl. Nkugwa Paul, attached to Mubende CPS, was on motorized patrol along Mubende Main Street in Mubende Municipality when he sighted a motorcycle registration number UGP 078K carrying a suspicious load in a polythene bag with a passenger.
When officers signalled the rider to stop, he refused, prompting a chase, which ended with the duo’s arrest and a search in the items being transported revealed four slaughtered dogs.
The suspects allegedly confessed that supplying dog meat for ‘mchomo’ within Mubende Municipality.
They are currently detained at Mubende CPS on charges of injuring animals, vide CRB 778/2026.
