South Sudan President Salva Kiir’s bodyguard Lt. Col Aloro Machol Lual, whose suit was torn while on duty protecting hi head of state on Tuesday has been honoured by First Lady Ayen Mayardit, as a hero upon his return to Juba.
During the Tuesday swearing ceremony of President Yoweri Museveni, for his seventh term of office at kololo ceremonial grounds, Lt. Col Aloro caught public attention after he remained committed to ensuring that President Kiir, remained safe and secure throughout the ceremony, even though his suit was torn, following a scuffle with officers from the Special Forces Command (SFC).
In videos trending on social media, Kiir’s protection detail is seen shoving away SFC soldiers who are mandated to protect President Museveni and the first family as, he made his way from his car to his seating area.

Lt. Col Aloro, is seen ignoring SFC security officers pointing to his torn suit and keeps focus on his number one priority, to ensure the safety of kiir.


The incident which went viral across online platforms, has garnered support from citizens back home, who have applauded Lt. Col Aloro for prioritizing security over appearance.
“His courage, discipline, professionalism, and selfless service are qualities that deserve recognition and appreciation. His successful execution of duty reflects the strength and commitment of the presidential security team in serving the nation” Joseph Kuel Garan, the chairperson Awan Muorkuau Youth Union (AMYU) said in congratulatory message.
