The National Unity Platform (NUP) Election Management Committee (EMC), has called for qualified and willing party members to express interest to contest for the position of Kalangala District Woman Member of Parliament.
On Monday, the committee chairperson Harriet Chemutai revealed that the expressions of interest will be received on Thursday 14th, May 2026 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
“Interested members are requested to physically submit written applications at the Party Headquarters at Makerere- Kavule. All candidates are required to attach a copy of the Party Membership Card, National ID, Curriculum Vitae and certified copies of Academic Qualifications” she said.
The Kalangala woman MP seat fell vacant following the untimely death of former MP Hellen Nakimuli, who passed away following an unsuccessful uterine fibroid removal operation at Alexandros Medical Center, last month.
Nakimuli, a member of the National Unity Platform (NUP), had just been re-elected to the office in the January polls.
On Friday last week, the Justice Simon Byabakama Mugenyi led Electoral Commission set June 24th, as the polling date to fill in the vacant position.
