Ggaba School Infant Killer First Paid Admission Fees Before Killing Spree

The Uganda Police Force has revealed that 39‑year‑old Okello Christopher Onyum, who allegedly hacked four pupils of Gaba Early Childhood Development Centre to death on Thursday, first disguised as a parent and the paid admission fees before carrying out the gruesome act.

While addressing media at the murder scene, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Kawala Rachael revealed that Onyum who is in police custody had days earlier visited the school and inquired about the fees structures of the school before returning to the school.

“Preliminary findings indicate that a few days ago, the suspect allegedly came to this place, Ggaba Early Childhood seeking for admission and he was told to go back to the school today, he actually also paid for the admission and after that proceeded and attacked these children, killing four of them instantly” she said.

The police has identified the infant victims who include three boys and one girl as Eteku Gideon, Kaise Alungat, Ignatius Sserwange and Ryan Odeke, all aged between 2 to three years of age.

The Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke has revealed that investigations are underway to establish Onyum’s motive to kill the toddlers.

“The Uganda Police Force extends its deepest condolences to the affected families and assures the public that all efforts are underway to ensure a thorough investigation and justice for the victims”he said.

Kituuma noted that further updates will be provided as more details emerge.

Eyewitness Account

Eyewitnesses said the suspect disguised himself as a parent and first entered the school offices, where he briefly engaged the administrator in charge, he later stepped outside, locked the gate, and began attacking children one after another, leaving four dead.

Teachers quickly raised the alarm, prompting the suspect to attempt an escape, however, he was apprehended by a security guard from the nearby Ggaba Community Church.

Moments later, angry residents flooded the area, attempting to lynch the suspect, police intervened, rescued him, and bundled him onto a police pickup truck.
