Businesses in Mini Triangle zone Makerere – Kavule in Kalerwe, a Kampala suburb have come to a standstill after a fire gutted a furniture shop in the area leaving properties worth of shillings destroyed.
The fire which started form one furniture shop before spreading to another has left a number of business mainly belonging to youth in the area destroyed in the inferno.
There were also cases of violence after youth’s who lost their businesses in the fire, started pelting stones at the Police fire brigade officers whom they accused of arriving at the scene of fire with empty fire trucks.
The stoning from the youth has led to police and UPDF officers firing live rounds in the air to disperse the youth who were turning violent.
By the time of this publication, the cause of the fire had not yet been established.
