As the police in Mukono district intensify investigations into the murder by strangulation of the late 46-year-old Director of Student Affairs at Uganda Christian University (UCU) Tumwebaze Pamela, Police has revealed that her killer first wore her jeans before fleeing from the crime scene.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Kawala Rachael, preliminary findings indicate that at around 2am, the houseboy saw an unknown man inside her bedroom, wearing the deceased’s jeans and stockings.
“The suspect later fled the scene, carrying a laptop bag belonging to the deceased” she said.
Kawala noted that when the houseboy and the children checked on their mother, they found her unresponsive in her bed.
“The deceased was rushed to Mukono Namirembe Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival” she said.
Kawala further noted that Police task teams have been deployed, and investigations and operations are ongoing to identify, trace, and arrest the suspect.
In a statement released earlier on, police noted that following the murder report, a team of police officers led by the OC Mukono police station ASP Alituha, including the SOCO visited the scene and it was examined and documented.
“It was observed that the deceased has been staying with her two children Elijah and Noah aged between 10 and 13 years Plus a house maid Lwantale Sharif, the deceased is said to have comeback home at around 10pm with her two children and the house help opened for her the gate and the house and locked”.
Authorities alleged that the assailant must have gained entry into the home when the house maid had gone to open for the deceased.
“The assailant after the act he asked the house help to give him the keys to open the main door and he was given the keys opened and went away with a laptop bag carrying unestablished items and the phone for the deceased which is missing in the house” the police said.
