The Iganga District Police has arrested 17 suspects and recovered three AK-47 rifles following a bust on an armed robbery in Walukuba, Jinja City recently.
According to police, on 27th September 2025, UPDF soldiers attached to Lugazi arrested Gumikiriza Allan after a failed robbery in Walukuba, Jinja City, during which one suspect was shot dead and an SMG rifle with two rounds of ammunition recovered at the scene.
During interrogation, Gumikiriza admitted to being involved in several aggravated robberies in Iganga, including the theft of UGX 9,500,000 from Ndagire Justine.
Gumikiriza is said to have identified his accomplices and confirmed that he conducted reconnaissance for the same robbery together with Magumba Saidi, resident of Nkono 3 Village, Iganga Municipality.
“On 20th November 2025, at around 0800 hours, a joint operation guided by Gumikiriza led to the arrest of Magumba Saidi, Kakaire Abdullah alias Brown, 36 and Mulondo Samuel alias Shadow, 25, businessman, resident of Nkono 3 Village” the police statement read in part.
Following the arrests, the suspects confessed to participating in multiple aggravated robberies in Iganga and further disclosed that the weapon used was supplied and stored by Muzei, a resident of Bugembe Division, Jinja City.
“The firearm recovered in Walukuba is suspected to be the same weapon used in the Iganga robberies”.
Police investigations indicate that Muzei abandoned it at the scene before fleeing and remains at large.
