As the 2026 national elections campaigns continue picking up heat across the country, a video making rounds on Social media on Friday showing first responders to an accident scene in Busoga region refusing to help a survivor out of the wreckage since he is an NRM supporter, has painted a dim picture on the process.
In the now viral video, first posted on TikTok, the man presumably the driver is seen helpless wiping away sweat and tears with the National Resistance Movement (NRM) T- shirt as the area residents continue to mock him instead of helping him out of the wreckage in the accident that occurred as the truck moved from one of President Museveni’s rallies.
The video recorder who is also part of the first responders on the scene narrates that the area residents have refused to help him because he is an NRM supporter and advises him to remove his shirt so as he can be helped.
“The man’s legs are stuck in the car, the car is ferrying posters belonging to NRM as you can see, they have refused to help him” the person narrates.
In the background a number of residents are overheard yelling that they couldn’t offer help nor touch the man stuck in the vehicle since he belongs to the NRM party which is allegedly responsible for their suffering among other things.
The video has since garnered response online with some of the netizens saying the act is a result of loss of humanity amongst Ugandans brought on by the ruling governments overstay in power.
Even though a few of the responders later on accept to help get him out of the wreckage, they do so while continuing the verbal assault on him.
However by the time of this publication the National Resistance Movement had not yet released a statement on the fate of their supporter who was stuck in the wreckage. The traffic police is yet to also issue a statement on the cause of the accident and details concerning the driver of the truck.
