Residents of Mwererwe village in Gombe Division, Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District have staged a protest over a foul rotting stench coming from Christian Life Church Pastor, Jackson Ssenyonga’s pig farm in the area.
According to residents, they held the protest after Pastor Senyonga ignored their complaints over the foul smell emanating allegedly from more than 500 pigs that died at his farm and were dumped in the community.
Mr Ssebbaale Sekate, a local councilor noted that the stench has become unbearable for residents who are now seeking for the intervention of relevant authorities to have it relocated from the area.
The residents noted that this isn’t the first time for such an incident to occur at the pastor’s farm and go on for weeks unattended to.

The demonstrations have since received support online with renowned Priest and Family Salvation Foundation Uganda Executive director Rev. Nathan Balirwana Mugalu urging Pastor Senyonga to hold a discussion with the resident’s in order to forge a way forward on reducing the stench.
“Engagement is key, but my elder Pastor @Pr_Senyonga, leaving the entire village of Mwererwe Kavule, with Mwererwe COU Parish,Mwererwe Catholic Parish, Mwererwe HC111,Schools and residences isn’t professional. Courtesy dictates that harm reduction is number one” he posted on his X account.
However, it remains to be seen if the Pastor will heed to the residents call to have the carcasses removed from the community.
