The Police in Masaka city has in custody four men who are suspected to be behind the recent spate of murders linked to motorcycle thefts in Nyendo – Mukungwe, a suburb in the city.
According to the Greater Masaka Regional Police Spokesperson kasirye Twaha, the force carried out an operation following a rise in the murder and theft of motorcycles in the ara.
“Following recent murders in Nyendo Mukungwe linked to motorcycle thefts, where riders were coldly killed and their motorcycles stolen, an operation was launched by the Police Region of Masaka East” he said.

Kasirye noted that the operation targeted garages suspected of dealing in stolen motorcycles and lodges believed to be harbouring thieves.
“As a result, Nyendo police raided two lodges, Kibata Guest House in Misaali and Copra Guest House in Kayirikiti. Four suspects were arrested, and over 40 motorcycles, suspected to be stolen, were impounded” he said.
Kasirye revealed that the recovered motorcycles are currently parked at Nyendo Police, pending further verification.
