Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango has revealed that the force has in custody two suspected panga wielding thugs who were arrested during a joint security patrol in the areas of Kireka Biira in the wee hours of Thursday.
Onyango noted that one Lumu Jovan was arrested at 2am near Oil com petrol station and found in possession of a newly purchased panga.
“Lumu was found in possession of a newly purchased, sharp panga, upon questioning, he disclosed that he and two accomplices had been transported by motorcycle rider Mawanda Nicholas Kasozi from Nansana to Kireka Biira” he said.
Onyango noted that the suspects were forced to stop over by the road after the motorcycle they were traveling on developed a flat tyre leading to the rider to stop and seek repairs.

“The patrolling team traced the rider, Mawanda, and subsequently arrested him, along with the motorcycle. Both suspects are currently in custody at Bulenga Police Station and are facing charges of possession of a dangerous weapon” he said.
Onyango noted that the panga and motorcycle have been seized as exhibits and are being held at the police station for further examination as investigations are ongoing to identify the other individuals involved in the incident.
