The criminal case in which land broker Muhammadi Kamoga is accused of fraudulent acquisition of more than 200 acre land in Bukaya-Garuga in Entebbe, Wakiso District has taken a new twist.

The trial Magistrates Court at Entebbe has directed the state to verify the ill-health claims by the broker, Kamoga, after he failed to appear in court regarding the ongoing case related to fraudof land.

“The state shall verify the information provided to court and thereafter court shall be at liberty to take action,” held Magistrate Edgar Tusiime Tebeyita before adjourning the case to September 29, 2025.

The court decision followed submissions in which the State Attorney Paul Byamukama Aheebwa vehemently objected to the long adjournment asked by Kamoga through his lawyers, who reported to court that he is unwell and admitted Nakasero Hospital.

Mr Byamukama said that the Dpp will undertake to verify Kamoga’s purported medical documents through the Directorate of criminal investigations (CID) of the Police reasoning that it was strange to hear that the accused Kamoga fell sick on a day before he was supposed to appear in court.

“The information is subject to verification, which does not require a long adjournment. I want to verify with the management of Nakasero Hospital to find out the truth,” he told court.

Kamoga, through his lawyers led by Mr Brian Tindyebwa, told court that his client was not present in court as required because he was admitted over heart related illnesses.

Mr Tindyebwa presented medical documents saying that Kamoga sent them through his sureties, Tony Walugembe.

However complainants who attended court were left shocked after Kamoga’s Lawyer’s mentioned Katabi Town Council Mayor Ronald Kalema as his second surety in his hospital admission at Nakasero Hospital case.

Kamoga’s lawyers presented an official letter from Kalema informing court that he wasn’t able to attend Friday’s session and represent the allegedlly sickly Kamoga since he had been invited to attend the 30th coronation anniversary of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV at the Karuziika Royal Palace in Fort Portal City.

On July 15, 2025, the Supreme Court dismissed an application in which the land broker had sought to stop the prosecution,  citing a pending appeal.

Kamoga is facing multiple charges of forgery, obtaining registration by false pretences, uttering false documents, unlawful eviction and malicious damage to property regarding fraudulent acquisition of a 200 acre land at Garuga-Bukaaya in Entebbe, Wakiso District.

He is accused of forgery of signatures of businessman Peter Bibangamba on transfer forms for land at Bukaya, Entebbe, fraudulently acquiring registration, uttering false documents, unlawful eviction and malicious damage to property.

Kamoga’s legal troubles stem from allegations that he used forged transfer forms to unlawfully transfer land ownership from Peter Bibangamba into his names for over 200 acres of land.

Embattled Land Broker Kamoga’ fraud case hearing adjourned

Kamoga was expected to plead to the amended charge sheet, which is already on court record, where the Dpp has preferred additional charges of forgery against him.

Kamoga, whose name has consistently appeared in several land fraudulent dealings, is well-known for engaging legal gimmicks, filing frivolous complaints against judicial officers hearing the fraud cases against him and recycling applications which had already been determined by the court of Appeal and Supreme Court all in a bid to delay his criminal trial.

It  appears Kamoga has run out of delaying tactics, having previously complained to Chief Registrar who, after calling for and perusing the criminal files, found no merit in his complaint thereby returning the files to Entebbe  with guidance that Kamoga’s trial should proceed expeditiously as directed by the Supreme Court.
