The Kibaale Chief Magistrate Nazifah Namayanja, has remanded Mr Onesmas Twinamasiko, the NRM Parliamentary flag bearer for Bugangaizi East Constituency over allegedly assaulting Uganda’s Prime Minister Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja.
Court heard that on July 17th 2025 during the announcement of the NRM party primary results at the Kakumiro District NRM offices, a scuffle is said to have broken out, during which Twinamasiko allegedly assaulted the Prime Minister in the presence of several party supporters and security personnel.
Twinamasiko who is charged with assault and causing bodily harm denied both charges before being remanded to Kibaale Government Prison until 10th of this month when the case will come up for bail hearing.
However netizens have come out to condemn Twinamasiko on social media over the alleged assault on Nabbanja since he is an alleged supporter of women battering after he appeared in an interview on NTV on 8th March 2021, International women’s day supporting the need to for men to discipline their wives by beating.

“”You need to touch her a bit, you tackle her, beat her somehow to really streamline her” Twinamasiko said at the time.
Even though he later on apologized to the country before the floor of Parliament after a public outcry since his words supported domestic violence in homes, his words left a sour taste among Ugandans.
“I after the tests all forms of violence against women kindly accept my sincere and unreserved apologies honourable members and the general public” Twinamsiko said at the time.
Following his remand, a social media user noted that a lapse in the Prime Ministers Robinah Nabbanja’s security during the hotly contested NRM primaries for Bugangaizi East allowed Twinamatsiko to land a hot slap on Nabbanja.
