Following the news of the abduction of Buyaga West Constituency MP Hon. Barnabas Tinkasiimire by UPDF soldiers at Rubis petrol station, Makerere and his release by his abductors on Monday evening, video footage of MP Tinkasiimire’s abduction has been leaked.
In the CCTV footage making rounds on Tuesday, the heavily armed soldiers are seen dragging Tinkasiimire, out of his white Toyota Prado car into a drone vehicle which they had parked next to the legislators car.
The soldiers can further be seen beating and shoving Tinkasiimire into the drone before it speeds off to an unknown destination.
On Monday, following complaints from family and friends, the Police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma denied having any knowledge of where the legislator could have been held after his alleged abduction.
In an interview with Local Media house NTV on Tuesday, Tinkasiimire revealed that he was blindfolded by his captors and endured beatings from them as they drove him to an unknown destination.
“On Saturday at around 6, I saw a group of army men approach my vehicle and grab me. The moment they laid hands on me, I realized they were on a mission to abduct me. They started forcing me into a so-called drone, beating me as I resisted. They then blindfolded me and drove off to an unknown destination” he said.
