The Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s court has granted bail to embattled former Police CID Spokesperson Charles Twine while his co accused National Unity Platform’s (NUP) Noah Mutwe has been further remanded on charges of incitement of violence, Hate speech and Malicious information.
Court presided over by Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi granted Twine bail after spending over a month in Luzira Prison while he denied Mutwe who is a civilian body guard to NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine bail due to insufficient sureties.
“Having considered the nature and gravity of the charges, as well as the substantiality of the sureties presented, I find that the accused (A1) ASP Twine has satisfied the bail conditions” Magistrate Kayizzi ruled.
Twine was released on a cash bail of UGX 5 million while each of his four sureties was bonded UGX 50 million non-cash.
Court heard that the duo between January 2024 and May 2025 used electronic communication to incite violence against President Museveni, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, and other top officials, charges which they both deny.
Kayizzi further remanded Noah Mutwe to Luzira Prison until 14th July for his bail application and further hearing of the case.
