At least four people have been confirmed dead after a fuel tanker registration number KDW154U/ZJ2266, crashed into a Gate way bus registration number UA 394AN on Friday morning along the Mbale-Soroti highway at Ocuuma Otialuk village in Bukedea District.
According to the South Kyoga Regional Traffic Officer, ASP Sowanyala Obadiya, 15 people who were aboard the Gateway bus were rushed to Bukedea teaching hospital, while others were taken to Bukedea Health Center IV seeking treatment.
“It’s alleged the fuel tanker driver went off the lane to the side of the bus causing the accident. The fuel tanker was heading to Mbale as a gateway bus was heading to Soroti side, we shall be able to give a detailed report as a day goes on” he said,
By the time of this publication, the identities of the deceased were yet to be ascertained.
