The Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court has charged Ronald Mayega, alias Omunyarwanda wa Bobi and Swaibu Kakaire with publishing false sodomy claims against Local Government Minister Balaam Barugahara.
Prosecution alleged that the duo alongside others still at large in July in Kampala and Wakiso district, on their social media, published news about Hon Balaam alleging that he carried out homosexual acts on Mayiga Ronald yet it isn’t true.
The duo denied the charges.
On count two, prosecution alleged that the duo broadcast news without a license contrary to section 28(1) and (2) of the Uganda Communications Act, Cap 103.
They have been remanded to Luzira Prison until September 28, 2026, when the case will come up again for mention and bail application.
